Scientists Create New Breakthrough In The First Programmable Quantum Processor

Today's best computer we could probably take many years to be able to complete the complex calculations, such as breaking passwords. But in the future it can be done in just seconds by using a quantum computer. Physicists at NIST have made a significant leap toward this goal by showing the universal quantum processor can be programmed for the first time.

In other words, this is the first time someone has developed a processor that can handle any set of instructions to more than one quantum bit or "qubit". Or more simply a quantum processor with the ability multytasking. A rapid progress when viewed that quantum processors with single-tasking comes less than a year ago.

Unlike a regular computer, a quantum computer stores information in a "qubit," or quantum bit. A regular bit consists of only one piece of data is 0 and 1, but a qubit can consist of a superposition of 0 and 1. That's just one of a number of important differences between quantum computers and conventional computers. Computer using standard logic gates, such as Boolean operators (and, or, not, and so on). Quantum computer uses quantum gates are always reversible, unlike the logic gates.
